The Nitty Gritty

My mind couldn’t wrap around or comprehend why it was such an uphill battle with ICBC. I get companies can be money hungry, but what is their driving force? I decided to start digging and lo and behold, I found it!

The model that the company uses is for their employees to cut and keep claim costs down and in turn, receive a bonus. My jaw was on the floor when I read this. How can someone be this dishonest and go low as to denying medical treatments and care, for their own personal gain? And yet, here we are. I will post snippets of what I found and you can also go right to the ICBC website and search through their employee benefits and pay scales to find the exact things that I found.

I was even more surprised when I was picking up my medication and spoke to my Pharmacist about this new discovery, and he said, “Oh I know, isn’t it awful? They shouldn’t be allowed to do that.” I didn’t realize other people knew this information. And why if this is known, isn’t anybody exposing it or questioning it at least?

The IME report finally came back and no surprise, I was completely stripped of everything. The paid doctor who had only met me one time, who only spoke to me for a couple of hours and whose opinion was heavily biased because of who he was employed by, changed everything in that one moment. It didn’t matter that I had fought with lawyers and had an agreement as to ICBC having to cover me for life. Or that I had specialists backing me. Or assessments from practitioners that see me on a regular, weekly basis. This one doctor decided what medication I was now to take, what type of program I had to do, and what other practitioners I was to go see and get assessed by, completely ripping away and tearing down all of the practitioners that I had worked so hard to find, that understood my body, and whose treatments, against all odds, were actually working and getting me pieces of my life back.

I will be giving more details on this on the next blog post, but I will be doing a pop up shop within the month, of some of my art prints to help me with paying for my treatments. So be on the look out for that!
